Myopia management refers to strategies and treatments aimed at controlling the progression of myopia, also known as nearsightedness. Myopia is a common refractive error where distant objects appear blurry while close objects can be seen clearly.
Here’s a brief overview of myopia management:
01
The first step in myopia management is to undergo regular eye exams. This allows us to detect any changes in vision and prescribe appropriate treatments.
02
03
These contact lenses have different prescriptions in different zones. They can help slow the progression of myopia by reducing the focusing demands on the eye, especially during near work.
04
Similar to contact lenses, these glasses have different prescriptions in different areas of the lens. They can also reduce focusing demands on the eye and slow down myopia progression.
05
Encouraging children to maintain proper posture, hold reading materials at an appropriate distance, and take regular breaks from close-up work can also help manage myopia.
By offering myopia management services, we can help our patients take proactive steps to slow down the progression of myopia and maintain good eye health for the long term.

Such a great experience here. I usually find eye tests daunting but I felt at ease here & could not fault the service 😊

Been going here for 8 yrs plus. Fantastic service, staff friendly, kind, patient. Had to pop in and get a screw in my glasses, without hesitation, they were there to help. Recommend to anyone. Wonderful optician.

Fantastic experience with them today. Having ruined the lenses of prescription sunglasses, they said no repair was possible and I needed an eye test, as they could not use a 3-year-old prescription. I have a phobia about eye tests and would have put it off. But the optician said he could do me today if I wanted, and was so patient and kind I bit the bullet and it didn’t hurt! His colleagues were just as helpful with me choosing new frames, so what is usually a traumatic experience turned out to be fine. 5 all round!*

Spectacle lenses play a vital role in myopia management:
Here’s how they can help:
Multifocal spectacle lenses have different prescriptions in various areas of the lens. By providing clear vision at different distances, these lenses can reduce the strain on the eyes during near work, such as reading or using digital devices. This reduction in visual stress may help slow down the progression of myopia in some individuals.
Some spectacle lenses are designed with peripheral defocus technology. These lenses create intentional blur in the peripheral vision while maintaining clarity in the central vision. By altering the peripheral retinal image, these lenses aim to reduce the stimulus for axial elongation of the eye, which is associated with myopia progression.

Spectacle lenses with blue light filtering properties can help manage myopia by reducing the potential harmful effects of blue light exposure from digital screens. Excessive blue light exposure has been linked to increased eye strain and disrupted sleep patterns, which may contribute to myopia progression. Blue light filtering lenses can help alleviate these issues, promoting healthier visual habits.
Applying scratch-resistant and UV protection coatings to spectacle lenses enhances durability and protects the eyes from harmful UV radiation. UV radiation has been associated with certain eye conditions, and protecting the eyes from UV exposure is crucial for maintaining overall eye health, especially in individuals with myopia.
By offering a variety of spectacle lenses tailored to individual needs, we can provide comprehensive myopia management solutions to our patients, promoting healthy vision and slowing down the progression of myopia over time.
